Step 2:Now chop the onions into thin and long slices ,be sure they are thin, slice the green chilies vertically into two halves

Step 3: Chop  garlic into small pieces ,you can even crush it
Step 4:Take a skillet add oil ,when it is ready add cumin seeds ,when they sputter add garlic pieces
Step 5:When garlic pieces turn brown ,add cashews and when they turn brown  add onions, curry leaves, and green peas.
Step 6: Saute for  5 minute ,add salt and cover with a lid until they are done
Step 7: Add turmeric powder and red chili flakes and let it cook for a minute  and finally add bread pieces and stir  carefully without breaking any pieces
Step 8:Sprinkle some salt on the bread pieces too
Step 9:  Finally add the ghee on the upma
Step 10:Garnish with cilantro and serve hot

Tips:

  • Use a non stick skillet for best results ,so that when bread is added it won't get stuck
  • Do not  stir too much after adding bread pieces ,this may make the bread too mushy
  • Do not chop the edges away as they help the bread to be a bit crispy ,if not bread may split and become too smooth
  • If you wish to chop the edges turn off the heat after adding the bread pieces and just toss them instead of stirring them
